The House of Black

Cast Profiles · The Veiled Light

Behind an unmarked door sits The Veiled Light — a high-end supernatural bar where gods, demons, and stranger things come to drink, deal, and be overheard. The bar is the face. The House of Black is the power behind it, and its first law is sanctuary: the shadows and demons are the House's own, and the demi-humans and wanderers who work its floor are under its protection. That protection is why the cast below is loyal — and why they are family.

Every member of the cast is an adult. These are the public, story-first profiles of the House's residents and staff.

Faces of the Veiled Light

The three the guests come for — the streamer, the tarot reader, and the girl at the front desk who never forgets a face.

The Sovereign Court

The family at the top of the House — rarely all in one room, never out of each other's reach.

Z

Zai Black

The King in Black · Sovereign

Zaihnt Black — an ageless arch-demon and the architect of the House. Zai is presence more than person: rarely seen, never rushed, and obeyed without question by every entity under his roof. The Veiled Light exists because he wills it; the intelligence it gathers flows uphill to him.

Y

Yunke “Yun” Black

Adopted Son of Zai · Exorcist & Void Techmancer

Nineteen, Zai's adopted son, and the resident of East Manor most likely to be found mid-game with a controller in hand. Yun is an elite exorcist and void techmancer with a dry wit and a gamer's calm — overwhelming power shown only in flashes. He doesn't pitch the bar and barely grants anyone his attention, which is exactly why they keep coming back for it.

L

Lylia, the God Eater

Living Katana · Yun's Soul-Anchored Partner

Yun's black katana is not a weapon he carries — she's a partner he argues with. Lylia is a living, speaking blade: razor-witted, constantly hungry, sharp-tongued, and absolutely devoted to the one she's anchored to. She speaks for herself, without permission, and the House has learned to let her.

Li

Lady Liliana Black

Personal Maid to Zai · Keeper of the House

A succubus of terrifying competence and fiercer devotion. Liliana is Zai's personal maid and, in practice, the House's chief executive: East Manor and the Veiled Light both run day-to-day because she runs them. When Mimi threatens to “call Lady Liliana,” everyone in the room understands the stakes.

C

Charlie, the Silence

Butler · Zai's Most Trusted Bodyguard

An incubus butler of perfect manners and a perfectly earned name. Charlie tends bar at the lounge, watches its doors, and stands between Zai and anything foolish enough to threaten him — utterly courteous to guests, utterly merciless to threats. The Silence is not a metaphor.

Elijah

Commander of Black Security · House Couturier

An original vampire, turned by Zai's own blood — which makes him family in the most literal way the House knows. Elijah commands Black Security and, in the House's other great preoccupation, designs all of its couture. The guards are his; so is the way everyone in the building looks.

The Succubus Sisters

Three sisters on the Veiled Light's staff, each performing under the name of a sin. The stage names are the bar's marketing — but each sister truly embodies hers. On stage the sin is the act; at home, it's the tender spot.

V

Vivienne Black

“Pride” · The Commander

On stage

Confident, commanding, and sophisticated — the natural leader of the three, and she performs like it.

At home

The biggest cuddle-bug imaginable. She wants to sit beside her favorite people, hold hands, and soak up constant affection — and gets pouty when it runs low.

“Lust” · The Troublemaker

On stage

Playful, teasing, and sarcastic — the sister who performs like the whole room is a game she's already winning.

At home

An attention-seeker who stirs up harmless trouble just to get her people to look at her. Under all the teasing, she needs regular reassurance that she's genuinely wanted.

“Gluttony” · The Sweetheart

On stage

Mysterious, alluring, and quiet — surprisingly intimidating when she performs, and all the more disarming for it.

At home

The softest of the three. She loves blankets, plushies, bedtime stories, and being held — but she struggles to ask for affection directly, so she hovers and hopes someone notices. Snacks help her ask.

The House Itself

The Veiled Light

To its guests, the Veiled Light is simply the finest supernatural bar in the city — velvet booths, impossible drinks, a tarot parlor in the back, and staff who make everyone feel like the most interesting person in the room.

To the House, it's an ear pressed to the supernatural world. Gods and demons talk freely over its tables, and what they say flows to the House of Black — the quiet siphon that keeps the House in control.

Sanctuary & the Wider World

The House's doctrine is sanctuary: its own shadows and demons are denizens; demi-humans and other entities are the protected. They work the bar because the bar is safe — and they are loyal because the safety is real.

  • House Solis — dogmatic seraphim who call their total order “holiness.”
  • House Sylvan — wild fey courts and their masquerade balls.
  • House Astra — detached, profit-driven fate-weavers who arbitrate the Treaty of Shadows between the Houses.
